Business Development Manager - Plastics

Our client, a leading company in the plastics industry, seeks a highly motivated and experienced Business Development Manager to drive growth and expand their market presence. The Business Development Manager will be responsible for managing the entire selling process and customer relationships for assigned regions and customers, with a focus on developing new business and achieving sales targets within the plastics industry.

Key Responsibilities:

  • New Business Development & Sales Generation: Drive new business sales to meet or exceed targets within the plastics sector. Proactively identify and target new prospects, developing and executing strategic sales development initiatives through various outreach methods (cold calling, social networking, etc.).
  • Client Engagement & Relationship Management: Qualify leads, conduct value assessments, and develop closing strategies. Serve as Account Manager for selected clients, managing relationships through regular reviews and proactive communication to ensure satisfaction and foster long-term partnerships.
  • Sales Operations & Strategy: Adhere to company sales methodology and provide accurate, timely reports. Represent the company at industry trade conferences. Manage pricing and contractual matters in accordance with company procedures.


Requirements:

  • Five to seven years of sales experience required within the plastics manufacturing or similar industry.
    • knowledge of plastic materials (HDPE, PET, PVC), manufacturing processes (specifically blow molding), and industry regulations are highly desired.
  • Strong sales, written, and oral communication, and computer and office equipment skills required for effective client interactions, presentations, and internal reporting.
  • Strong analytical, decision-making, and negotiation skills are required for identifying opportunities, solving problems, and securing favorable agreements.
  • Ability to prioritize and organize work with limited supervision to manage time effectively and work independently to meet deadlines and sales targets.
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality ensuring the protection of sensitive company and client information.
  • Able to travel up to 80% of the time to meet with clients, attend industry events, and expand the company's reach
  • Associate degree or related work experience required. Bachelor’s degree is preferred
