Our client, a premier network installation and implementation services firm, is seeking an Entry-Level Network Engineer for a six-month contract-to-hire engagement based in Central, MA. This role is designed for a true "go-getter"—someone with a genuine passion for infrastructure who is eager to launch their networking career. You will "hit the ground running" by supporting a major firewall reimplementation project while receiving direct mentorship from senior engineers. We are looking for a curious mind who isn't afraid to ask questions and is hungry to absorb knowledge in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Triage & Support: Act as the first point of escalation for network-related tickets, diagnosing end-user connectivity issues and responding to monitoring alerts.
• Infrastructure Maintenance: Execute basic configuration updates and changes for Juniper LAN and Aruba Wireless ecosystems under senior guidance.
• Field Operations: Perform hands-on field support, including hardware replacement (utilizing basic hand tools), cable management, and "rack and stack" tasks within network closets.
• Team Collaboration: Coordinate with student workers for task completion and actively engage with senior engineers to learn complex troubleshooting workflows.
• Active Learning: Maintain a high level of engagement by asking clarifying questions and documenting technical processes to ensure personal and professional growth.
• Monitoring: Utilize enterprise monitoring platforms to ensure the continuous health of the Juniper, Aruba, and Palo Alto environment.

Requirements:

• Experience: Previous experience in an IT Helpdesk or general support role, coupled with a demonstrated obsession with Networking/Infrastructure.
• Technical Baseline: A foundational understanding of networking protocols and exposure to Juniper (JNCIA) or Aruba (ACSA) technologies.
• Troubleshooting: Strong natural ability to diagnose connectivity issues for end devices (mobile, tablets, laptops, computers).
• Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 50 pounds unaided, use ladders, and work comfortably in tight network closets.
• Soft Skills: Excellent interpersonal skills; must be "outgoing," highly communicative, and comfortable engaging with both technical teams and end-users.
• Mindset: A "moldable," high-energy attitude with a passion for learning within a non-standard, fast-paced institutional environment.
• Location: Must be willing to communicate to Central Mass (Worcester Area) daily.
