Our client, a dynamic and innovative family-owned structural engineering firm, is seeking a seeking a driven Senior Structural Engineer (6+ years’ experience) to design and detail gravity and lateral systems for diverse residential, commercial, and industrial projects, with a focus on light-frame wood construction. Requirements:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Structural Design & Analysis: Lead the design and detailing of complete gravity and lateral systems, with a specialization in light-frame wood construction, utilizing various materials (wood, steel, concrete, and masonry) and industry-standard software (Revit, Forte, RISA). Perform engineering calculations, adhering to company SOPs and relevant building codes. Proactively identify and recommend improvements to design processes. Produce high-quality structural engineering designs for light-frame wood construction projects, including commercial and residential buildings.
  • Construction Documentation: Generate accurate and comprehensive construction documents in Revit, ensuring alignment with calculations, company standards, and project requirements.
  • Mentorship & Collaboration: Guide and mentor junior engineers and drafting staff, integrating them into project teams and providing constructive feedback. Foster a collaborative work environment.
  • Project Execution & Site Assessment: Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to project timelines and budgets. Communicate progress effectively and conduct site visits as needed.
  • Client Interaction: Effectively communicate with clients, architects, and contractors to understand project requirements and provide clear and concise technical solutions.
  • Professional Development: Actively participate in onboarding, training, and performance reviews to enhance skills and contribute to team success.

Qualifications:

  • Education & Registration: B.S. in Civil Engineering and EIT certification required and a PE License.
  • Experience: Minimum of 6 years of progressive structural engineering experience, including at least 2 years specifically with light-frame wood construction design. Experience should demonstrate a strong understanding of structural principles and design practices.
  • Software Proficiency: Demonstrated proficiency in Revit, Forte, and RISA software is essential. Experience with other structural analysis and design software is a plus.
  • Technical Skills: Solid understanding of structural analysis principles, including load path identification, and experience performing calculations for various materials (wood, steel, concrete, and masonry). Familiarity with relevant building codes (IBC/IRC, ASCE 7, NDS, AISC 360, ACI 318) is required. Must be able to follow established design procedures and recommend improvements.
  • Communication & Collaboration: Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) are necessary to effectively interact with clients, architects, contractors, and team members. Ability to mentor and guide junior engineers.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are crucial for developing effective and efficient structural solutions.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree (with a focus on structural engineering)
  • Experience with Bluebeam
