Our client, a dynamic and innovative family-owned structural engineering firm, is seeking a driven Mid-Senior Structural Engineer ($3 text{ to } 5 text{ years}' text{ experience}$) to design, analyze, and detail gravity and lateral systems for diverse residential, commercial, and industrial projects, with a strong focus on light-frame wood construction. Requirements:

Key Responsibilities

The primary responsibility involves structural design and analysis of complete gravity and lateral systems, specializing in light-frame wood construction. You will utilize materials like wood, steel, concrete, and masonry, and be proficient in software such as Revit, Forte, and RISA. This includes executing engineering calculations adhering to company SOPs and building codes to produce high-quality designs. You will also generate accurate construction documentation in Revit, ensuring compliance with standards. Day-to-day work requires managing design tasks, conducting necessary site visits, and ensuring the timely delivery of all project deliverables. Furthermore, you will collaborate with Senior Engineers, assist in mentoring junior staff, and effectively communicate technical solutions to clients, architects, and contractors. You are expected to follow established procedures and actively recommend process improvements.

 

Required Skills

  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years of progressive structural engineering experience, including at least 1 year specifically with light-frame wood construction design. Experience should demonstrate a solid understanding of structural principles and design practices.

  • Education & Registration: B.S. in Civil Engineering and EIT certification required. A PE License is highly preferred, or candidate must be actively pursuing licensure.

  • Software Proficiency: Demonstrated proficiency in Revit, Forte, and RISA software is essential.

  • Technical Skills: Solid understanding of structural analysis principles, including load path identification, and experience performing calculations for various materials (wood, steel, concrete, and masonry). Familiarity with relevant building codes (IBC/IRC, ASCE 7, NDS, AISC 360, ACI 318) is required.

  • Communication & Collaboration: Strong communication skills (written and verbal) are necessary to effectively interact with team members and external project stakeholders.

  • Problem-Solving: Proven analytical and problem-solving skills for developing efficient structural solutions.


Preferred Qualifications

  • PE License.

  • Master's degree (with a focus on structural engineering).

  • Experience with Bluebeam.
