Requirements:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Structural Design & Analysis (Under Supervision): Assist in the design and detailing of gravity and lateral systems, with a specialization in light-frame wood construction, under the guidance of senior engineers. Utilize various materials (wood, steel, concrete, and masonry) and industry-standard software (Revit, Forte, RISA). Perform engineering calculations, learning to adhere to company SOPs and relevant building codes. Contribute to the production of high-quality structural engineering designs for light-frame wood construction projects, including commercial and residential buildings, while developing your skills.
  • Construction Documentation (Under Supervision): Assist in generating accurate and comprehensive construction documents in Revit, ensuring alignment with calculations, company standards, and project requirements, under the guidance of senior engineers.
  • Collaboration & Learning: Work closely with senior engineers and drafting staff, actively participating in project teams and seeking opportunities to learn and develop your skills.
  • Project Support & Site Assessment: Support project execution by assisting with various tasks, including data entry, report preparation, and site visits as needed.
  • Professional Development: Actively participate in onboarding, training, and performance reviews to enhance skills and contribute to team success.

Qualifications:

  • Education & Registration: B.S. in Civil Engineering required. EIT certification preferred, or actively pursuing.
  • Experience: 1-3 years of experience. Entry-level candidates and recent graduates are encouraged to apply. Internship experience in structural engineering is a plus.
  • Software Proficiency: Familiarity with Revit, Forte, and RISA software is desirable. Willingness and ability to learn these programs quickly is essential.
  • Technical Skills: Basic understanding of structural analysis principles, including load path identification. Coursework in structural design (wood, steel, concrete, and masonry) is preferred. A willingness to learn and apply relevant building codes (IBC/IRC, ASCE 7, NDS, AISC 360, ACI 318) is essential.
  • Communication & Collaboration: Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) are necessary to effectively interact with team members. A strong desire to learn and contribute to a team environment is crucial.
  • Problem-Solving: Aptitude for analytical and problem-solving thinking is important for developing effective structural solutions.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree (with a focus on structural engineering)
  • Participation in relevant student organizations or projects
